Clear Creek 2000 Rotary Club members and guests toured the Colorado School of Mine's Edgar Experimental Mine in Idaho Springs on March 2, 2022.
The mine tour was led by Lee Fronapfel, Mine Manager, and Clinton Dattel, Mine Foreman. Lee had been a speaker in September 2020, a time when the COVID-19 pandemic was an obstacle to showing us the mine. He then looked forward to being able to do so, and the club took him up on it as restrictions lifted early in 2022. While the mine is for the education of School of Mines students, it is used by the US Mine Safety and Health Administration to teach mine rescue (there is a special training "room" for that purpose and by other agencies. It was a fascinating tour!
